Joe’s Stone Crab

Culture

Throughout the world, the holidays are a time for joy, gift-giving, and uniting families… in Miami, we like to call that STONE CRAB SEASON!

With 108 years in the business of cracking claws, Joe’s is synonymous with stone crabs. The legendary Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant will open for its 108th season on Friday, October 15th with the first seating beginning at 5:00 pm.

From the buttery hash browns to the tangy-sweet key lime pie that melts in your mouth and the delectable stuffed tomatoes to the pièce de résistance those stone crab claws there is nothing quite like Joe’s.

In 1913, Joe Weiss opened up a small lunch counter on Miami Beach. Folks would stop in to chat and dine on top-notch fish sandwiches and fries. This, of course, was only the beginning. Joe’s is credited with being the first establishment in America to prepare and serve stone crabs and that’s when things started to change.

Today, Joe’s Stone Crab is a world-renowned South Florida icon. Joe’s has hosted celebrities and superstars, powerbrokers, and politicians but is run by the same family at the exact location as when it started more than 108 years ago.
